Blanchett gets government chair
Hollywood star Cate Blanchett missed out on an Oscar but has won the position of chairwoman at an Australian government summit meeting to chart the country’s future.
Blanchett will chair the “Creative Australia” discussions at Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s 2020 Summit in parliament’s Great Hall in Canberra on April 19-20, the government said yesterday.
The chisel-cheekboned actress joins 10 other prominent Australians on an independent steering committee for the summit, billed as a meeting of 1,000 of the nation’s best and brightest minds.
Blanchett, who won an Oscar as best supporting actress in 2005 for her portrayal of Katherine Hepburn in “The Aviator,” was nominated for two of the golden statuettes this year by was passed over.
The 39-year-old star had been in the running for best actress for “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” and best supporting actress for here gender-bending performance as a young Bon Dylan I “I’m Not There.”

Mandy Moore on March 12 concert at Eastwood City Philippines
How a great experience being present on her concert on March 12 which is my birthdate too. It will be a totally different celebration for me celebrating my birthday in a concert. But unfortunately, I’m quite too sure I will not be able to attend. Ask why? Huhuhuhu… That’s permanently unfortunate, really. Hehehe.. Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on April 10, 1984, (See I am 1 year older to her) mandy has emerged as one of the hottest young stars of today. Since her first CD release with So Real in 1999, Mandy’s career has flourished as she has released even more hit records, starred in server movies (Princess Diaries 1, A Walk to Remember, Saved, Try 17, Chasing Liberty, Americam Dreamz, How to Deal, License to Wed and, coming soon, Because I Said So).
She has released her own clothing line called MBLEM and has reached enormous success with it as her clothes have been sold in stores all across America. Her new (fifth) CD, called Wild Hope, was released late last year. Mandy is never too busy to mind the less fortunate. She donated her time to various charities.
